Robert Fay Nelson, 85, of Janesville passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 21, 1928, the son of Arnold and Myrtle (Kettleson) Nelson. Robert was united in marriage to Rheta Roth on January 5, 1957 in Dubuque, IA. He served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Robert worked at General Motors for 31 years retiring in 1982. He was the first treasurer and a charter member of Blackhawk Credit Union. He belonged to U.A.W. Local # 95 and loved to sing and dance.
Robert is survived by Rheta, his wife, son, Eric (Teresa) Nelson of Texas, grandchildren, Brandon and Brice, his brother, Eugene (Shirley) Nelson, sisters-in-law, Eileen Nelson and Lynn Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Ronald Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Rev. Jerry Amstutz will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
